Why Cellar Wine? Seriously

First watch this video of a private investor showcasing his pride & joy home wine cellar

Wine can be kept in boxes under your bed or in a wardrobe! Still, quiet, dark

Reasons to start your own cellar

🍷 think bigger in life 🍷 talking point 🍷 secure your favourite wines and vintages – shops soon run out! 🍷 24/7 365 access, no horror show on Cmas day! 🍷 learn more about the world of wine as an armchair traveller 🍷 enjoy! 🍷 pair perfect wine with whatever food whenever 🍷 investment 🍷 family birthdays & anniversaries 🍷 believe in yourself 🍷 become more choosy and knowledgeable 🍷 perfect wine for the perfect season 🍷 never run short!

Here in interview with wine interview guru Santa Barbera I talk about my wine cellar aspirations and priorities with reference to the above video – pour a glass and enjoy 30 minutes on world wine! 🍷🍷

Cellar defenders are the wines you stock toΒ  ensure you never open your most coveted bottles by mistake! Apply an 80/20 rule to be sure – 20 top end vintage ChΓ’teau wines to keep for special occasions, 60 drinkme favourites from around the world, 20 lookalike bottles to open when sorely tempted! For me wine provides vision, self discipline, adventure and warmth 😊πŸ₯‚

But realistically how can you build a moderate cellar of 2-400 bottles? Order a case of 15 instead of 12 and hold 3-5 wines back, this will build up; buy 3 of your favourite in shop not just 1 and keep 2; order en primeur from a wine club like Laithwaites and drink 6, cellar 6 — there are lots of ways to artfully set a few bottles aside without denting your budget! In time you will increase your readiness to spot a bargain, pursue the best vintages and learn more about grape varieties. It takes years and is part of the very juice of life! Believe and start today!! Your friends will love you for it + give you cellar bottle gifts!! 🍷🍷😎

I think you can tell here I’m saying don’t aim to impress, work out what YOU like best and choose that — wine is for drinking and enjoyment not investment. Very few take time to study world wine, grape varieties, blends and just go with the cheap Β£7 bottle from the garage — have you tried water? It will suit you and your pocket better! Get to know your wines, visit a festival, visit vineyards, pick grapes, read all you can — more exposure = more pleasure
